The ConcertGrid Concert Ticket Price Index
A daily index of the median starting price across upcoming concerts — what the cheapest seat at a typical concert costs — rebased to 100 on the first day of our observation window.
It is a daily cross-sectional index. Each day it uses the eligible upcoming concerts known to ConcertGrid as of that date, so the set of concerts changes as events enter and leave the tracked population, and a move in the index can reflect price changes, a change in the mix of concerts, or both. Because the source feed does not signal when a listing is withdrawn, a previously observed concert may remain in the index until its event date at its last known starting price.
This index currently covers Sep 21 – Oct 7, 2026 with 17 daily index points and should be read as a preliminary series. It will become more informative as the observation window grows.
Across the current 17 daily index points, the index moved from 100.00 on Sep 21 to 106.06 on Oct 7 (+6.06%).
How to read this
- 100 is the base-day level: the median starting price on Sep 21, 2026.
- Above 100 means that day’s median starting price was above the base day’s — 102 is 2% above.
- Below 100 means it was below — 98 is 2% below.
The index is an aggregate measure. A 1% increase in the index does not mean every concert became 1% more expensive, and because the concerts in the index change from day to day, changes may reflect both price movement and changes in the mix of eligible concerts. It is not a forecast, and not a recommendation about when to buy tickets.

Methodology
- Source: the TicketNetwork affiliate product feed — one resale marketplace — imported by ConcertGrid on a schedule; the analysis is ConcertGrid’s own.
- Measure: the starting price — the lowest listed ticket — per concert, in US dollars, before fees and taxes.
- Daily reconstruction: ConcertGrid stores a new price record when a concert first appears and when its listed prices change. To reconstruct each index day, we use the latest known starting price as of the end of that day; an unchanged price is carried forward until a newer record appears. If a concert’s price changes several times in one day, the last change counts.
- Eligibility: a concert counts from the day we first record it — never earlier — until it starts. It needs a starting price above zero in its latest record and a reliable start time; concerts without either are left out, and a missing price is never counted as $0.
- Statistic: the median of those starting prices, so that a handful of stadium tours cannot dominate a number meant to describe an ordinary concert.
- Base: the first day of the series (Sep 21, 2026) = 100; each day is its median divided by the base day’s median, times 100.
- Population: dynamic — the eligible upcoming concerts known to ConcertGrid as of each day, 46,339–50,298 a day so far. It is not a fixed cohort of the same concerts.
- Day: a UTC calendar day.
- Window: Sep 21 – Oct 7, 2026 — 17 daily index points, spanning 16 elapsed days.
- Limitations: the history is short — the index becomes more useful for identifying longer-term and seasonal patterns after months of collection, so treat short-run moves as noise until the series is longer. These are resale marketplace prices from one marketplace, not box office face value. Composition changes move the index as well as prices do. A concert that leaves the feed before its date keeps its last recorded price until that date, because the feed does not tell us when a listing is withdrawn.
